Who wouldn’t descent in love with Cancún? It’s known for lovely beaches, turquoise blue waters, and fabulous gay kind resorts. It’s a hotspot for honeymooning and for anniversaries. Walking down the streets, we couldn’t assist but notice how everyone we came across seemed to be celebrating some relationship milestone. The place oozes romance and relaxation. And while you might understand us for our chaotic adventures backpacking through Asia and Europe and partying in clubs, we undertake like to slow down every once in a while. And Cancún is just the place. Each of the gay friendly resorts we've picked out is within 10 minutes of each other in an area known as the ‘Zona Hotelera’ or ‘Tourist Zone’. It’s a strip of land, mainly frequented by tourists that are perfect for those looking to hit up the beaches, as it sits minutes away from each resort. FYI: Gay travelers generally hang out around the Playa Mamitas and Playa Delfinas areas – places that can fetch a bit more cruise-y i Gay Playa Del Carmen keeps us coming back for more, we’ve visited multiple times and have simply fallen in love with this beautiful, gay amiable coastal town. When it comes to gay destinations in Mexico, it is one of our favorite. On first impressions, we were very impressed. Stunning beaches, the crystal-clear water you would expect from the Caribbean, an abundance of restaurants, and what looked to be plenty of nightlife options stretching along the main street of 5th Avenue. We loved it straight away, and knew we were going to have a amazing time. But what about gay Playa del Carmen? With so much on present for your general holidaymakers, did Playa del Carmen have anything to give LGBTQ+ travellers in Mexico? Whilst researching ‘gay Playa del Carmen’ it seemed that there wasn’t really anything LGBTQ+ specific available…. However, we quickly realised that the reason for this was that Playa del Carmen is such a queer friendly and welcoming place to all tourists, and as a result, everything from bars to beaches is integrated. Just like in Cancun (see our Cancun Gay Guide), gay tourists are welcomed in all the bars, and you will find gay tour Gay Cancun Travel Guide: Cancun was our first exposure of Mexico as a gay couple and we immediately fell in care for with the destination, it’s no surprise it attracts gay travellers from all over the world Cancun is known for grand all-inclusive hotels, pristine white beaches, crystal clear waters and if you are up for it, it has a huge party scene on the main strip (and you will also find some gay bars in Cancun downtown!). You can also experience some unreal trips from Cancun including excursions to the eminent Chichen Itza, Isla Mujeres, jump into a cenote or go scuba diving! This is a destination where you can own the perfect mix of luxury and adventure! Of course, we were curious about gay scene in Cancun given the high number of tourists, even if it was just a couple of gay bars or clubs. We knew it was not going to be one of those ‘super gay’ destinations favor Puerto Vallarta, however we were keen to calm down with a couple of nights out mixed in.
