Actors can travel all manner of circuitous paths before they reach their creative destinations. Harrison Ford started as a carpenter. Gerard Butler attended law school. Hugh Jackman was initially a gym teacher . . . then a party clown. Luke Grimes began his journey as a performer in a little Pentecostal church, playing drums for his father’s Uncover Bible Christian Church congregation. He was all of twelve years old.

“I knew that I wanted to be an actor really, really young, like when I was five or six years old,” says Grimes, now thirty, who will wrap up a busy year opposite Bradley Cooper in Clint Eastwood’s Navy SEAL drama American Sniper. “I loved getting up in front of people—I wasn’t a bashful little kid. Which is funny, because now I’m incredibly shy and I don’t like attention very much. But the church needed a drummer, and when you’re the pastor’s kid you kind of do whatever’s needed. I learned how to compete in a week, and was up there the next service.”

Actor Luke Grimes, popular for his male heartthrob role on HBO’s popular vampire drama True Blood, allegedly left the series in

December when he found out his traits James Kent would be bisexual  in this - the final season. His departure has earned him some professional criticism.

In 2013, when Grimes first appeared in a recurring role as James in the sixth season of True Blood, James was a smart, artistic vampire wooing Jessica Hamby, a female vampire.

The series, acknowledged for its outlandish, freaky plots, was created by the openly gay Alan Ball and produced by his company in conjunction with HBO – recognizable for adult programs love Big Love, The Sopranos, The Wire, and Entourage.

This season, James turns his affections to gay nature Lafayette Reynolds, played by Nelsan Ellis.

L.A-based entertainment lawyer Julian Chan told FOX411 that typically production companies have the freedom to tailor television scripts in whatever direction they yearn for, and it is only when nudity is committed that it must be written i

Did Luke Grimes Not Desire to Play a Homosexual Guy On 'True Blood'?

True Blood
may be entering its final season, but actor Luke Grimes, who played the vampire James, isn't going to be there for its conclusion.

According to Buzzfeed, it could be because Grimes was uncomfortable playing a homosexual character.

Former General Hospital regular Nathan Parsons has been cast to play the role now that Grimes dropped out. However, the actor's sudden departure from the show in December left many confused.

HBO previously released a statement to TVLine explaining, "The role of James is organism recast due to the creative direction of the character."

Now, sources close to the show tell Buzzfeed that the 30-year-old star actually quit because of a burgeoning romantic relationship between Grime's character and Nelsan Ellis' Lafayette.

According to the website's sources, Grimes told the True Blood writers once he received the scripts that he would be willing to act the character as someone Lafayette was attracted to, but not if it lead to a sexual relationship or involved scenes of same sex lovemaking or kissing.
