In a context where LGBTQ1 (lesbian, gay, bisexual, gender nonconforming, and queer) persons tackle various forms of abuse and exclusion the society over, it is not always the first instance that queer is considered alongside peace. Accordingly, much has been written about how queers come to know and counter aggression and less so about how queers come to know and construct calm (See, Amar 2013; CNMH 2015, 2019; Díaz Villamil 2020; Duggan 2012; Verdant and Quinalha 2014; Guerra 2019; Hagen 2016, 2017; IARAN 2018; Judge 2018; Mason 2002; Ritholtz 2022a; Serrano-Amaya 2017; Stanley 2021; Swarr 2012; Weber 2016). Yet, it is precisely the implication of hostility in the targeting of queer people -a hostility rooted in the consciousness that those who are queer are less-than and worthy targets- that requires a turning of the lens towards the generative potential of peacebuilding by and for LGBTQ persons.

Mauricio grew up in Colombia until he was 12 years old, after which he moved to the United States with his mother and two brothers, to New York Town where he dedicated himself to modeling in other local cities both in Europe and from the United States, coming to work with Nicolas Felizola, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Paul Joe Paris, among others. At the age of 25 he decides to go to Mexico City for an acting project.
In 2011, he filmed the new youth telenovela for Nickelodeon Latin America called Grachi, which was a success throughout Latin America, and at the end of 2011 he filmed the second season of Grachi, which premiered on February 27, 2012.
