Pride Village transforms Vienna's Rathausplatz into a lively space celebrating LGBTIQ customs from June 12 to 14, This event, part of Vienna Pride, doesn't require tickets and is open to everyone. It acts as a hub for community engagement with a mix of communication booths, artistic performances, discussions, and culinary treats. The full program will be shared soon. Experience the colorful diversity and oneness within the heart of Vienna as the event promotes LGBTIQ rights and visibility. Be aware of possible cancellations due to weather or legal changes, and note that image and sound recordings might occur. Check opening hours from Thursday to Saturday and enjoy this inclusion-focused event.

About Vienna and its homosexual life
Both in the past and in the present, gays have played a prominent role in Vienna’s public life. Probably the most prominent lesbian in the history of Austria was Prince Eugene of Savoy () who freed Vienna from Turkish siege and pushed the Ottomans back to the Balkans. But it wasn’t just on the battlefield that Eugene was surrounded exclusively by men; in private, he preferred to have intimate relations with members of his retain sex – a proof well known even during his lifetime. Even so, he managed to erect his career and broaden his power base during the reigns of three emperors, and his robust influence on Vienna remains visible to this time. His summer palace, Schloss Belvedere, is an memorable example.

Diversity Ball

Since , "equalizent" has organized the annual Diversity Ball, a unique festival of joie de vivre and respect for human colorfulness and diversity. Many LGBTIQ+ people in all their different communities come together for a rousing blackout at the ball in the Kursalon Wien, as a sign of the colorful nature of community, for tolerance, accessibility and mutual respect.
