Gay Vienna – the leading gay hotels, bars, clubs & more

Vienna is one of Europe’s underrated wonders, where old-world grandeur blends with a quirky up-to-date edge. It’s a town where centuries-old coffeehouses rest snugly below baroque palaces and grandiose opera houses. Just when you consider Vienna is all about its imperial past, you’ll find yourself in a hip café which serves vegan schnitzels, a sleek art gallery with cutting-edge installations, or a trendy gay bar hidden in an alleyway.

The Viennese own perfected the art of enjoying life, as seen in their dedication to the ritual of Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake). For them a visit to a coffeehouse is about far more than getting a daily caffeine hit—it’s a cultural experience where people linger, philosophize, and enjoy desserts that look like miniature sculptures. And don’t even think about rushing the experience, unless you hope for to risk invoking the wrath of your waiter. Yet, for all its elegance and reverence for tradition, Vienna has a playful side too. Locals might be reserved, but their city hums with an undercurrent of wit and whimsy. You’ll spot it in the colorful Hundertwasserhaus, the cheeky road art, and

The Circus

Dear Circus Family,

Since 2011, Circus has been creating unforgettable experiences at Arena Wien. Unfortunately, this has to come to an end. On October 14th, we invite you to our last party at the iconic Arena Wien.

Why is this happening?

Did you notice those three huge towers that popped up next to Arena Wien? They are the reason we can't keep playing music on our pop floor after 2am anymore. This significantly impacts the vision and experience of our Circus events. That’s why we have to cancel all future parties at Arena Wien.

What's happening on October 14?

Let's emphasis on the fun stuff! Our huge Main Floor is still gonna be as wild and vibrant as always! And we are working hard to make this night truly unforgettable.

We have to build some changes to the pop floor:

From 23:00-02:00 you can experience the pop floor that you realize and love! At 02:00, we’re gonna move the pop floor over to the Arena Beisl area, ensuring that the party continues.

A naughty surprise… 😈

After we move the pop floor, Kleine Halle reopens as Vienna's Biggest Dusky Room, with some chill vibes and low-volume music.

So, what comes next?

We are exploring our options. The

Parties and Clubs

The Why Not opens its doors each Friday and Saturday. The relatively small downtown queer club has been around for many years. It still busts out of its seams each weekend. Expect a hot darkness on the dance floor where all the famous house and dance hits are playing. www.why-not.at

"Occident meets Orient and Poland is there too", is how organiser, Sabrina Andersrum, sums up her monthly Balkan clubbing BallCanCan. The criss-cross mixture of guests sway to Balkan-Pop and Turbo-Folk. www.facebook.com/BallCanCan

Vienna has its first Bear & Butch club in the form of the Pitbull. Since its opening in 2009, the Pitbull team has provided sweat-producing beats for that pure testosterone rush. www.pitbull-clubbing.at

queer:beat. LGBTIQ+ people and friends can dance away to indie rock, electronic and chart music here. Several DJs play for the young, dance-crazy crowd. www.queerbeat.at

At the regularly held Ken Club, a mainly juvenile crowd dances to pop and chart hits. www.kenclub.at

G.Spot. The monthly party, perhaps the most iconic there is, is aimed at lesbians as well as gays, and offers altering aspects of electronic tune p
