Gay pride parade 2023

Note: Traveling as an LGBTQ+ person always carries a certain degree of risk. It is our reality as we navigate a society with 60+ countries criminalizing our relationships and a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation around the world. We encourage our traveling group to understand the laws and cultural challenges they may face in any destination they choose to see for Pride and beyond. Don't be afraid of the world, but always research information specific to your travels. Enjoy Pride, be vigilant, and look out for each other!

The LGBTQ+ rights movement has made tremendous strides over the past several decades and much of the progress in noticeability is thanks in part to gay pride parades and marches that include taken place in cities around the world.

The global landscape for LGBTQ+ rights, protections and acceptance varies tremendously by location, with some destinations attracting millions of visitors to their events like Madrid Male lover Pride, Sao Paulo Queer Pride or San Francisco Gay Pride, while more than 70 other countries have laws that authorize discrimination or persecution of LGBTQ+ people.

Since Atlanta’s first Pride Celebration in on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, Atlanta’s Parade—and subsequently, its Festival—has galvanized the LGBTQIA+ community in Georgia and across the South to show up for each other and to exhibit out with acts of protest, activism, education, and celebration. Fifty-three years later, the Atlanta Pride Committee remains committed to this vision and encourages our neighbors to SHOW UP AND SHOW OUT for the fullest spectrum of the region’s LGBTQIA+ collective at this year’s Atlanta Pride Festival on October , in Piedmont Park.

In this time of increased political turmoil, violent attacks on the transgender society, especially our trans siblings of color, efforts to silence transgender and gender-expansive youth, and unprecedented threats and legislation aimed at drag performers and homosexual safe spaces, we phone on Georgia's LGBTQIA+ collective to SHOW UP AND SHOW OUT like never before!
