Confession time: I’ve never used a cock ring during penetrative sex. OK, that’s not true. It’s more accurate to say that I’ve never enjoyed using a cock ring during penetrative sex. I always rip it off within minutes because I’ve establish it too obstructive, uncomfortable, or unnecessary. In short: cock rings just aren’t my thing, at least not for now. That’s not to say I won’t love them in the future, as I recently discovered after having my first stroker orgasm. (Before this, I was rather outspoken about my distaste for them.)
I’m not the only one who’s had undesirable experiences with cock rings. A very close friend of mine recently slapped one on and had to notice a urologist the next day following significant swelling and a pain he described as “a firm pinch” under his scrotum. He was relieved to find out that no permanent damage had been done, he just had to wait fo

Cock rings
I have a collection of different types. The advantage is how much harder it makes my penis. When you're massive, a frequent comment is "you're big but you don't get completely hard". There's a lot of truth to that. So, different types of rings:
- Metal rings are a lot more fun for the bottom than the top. it's the unchanging impact of the sound at full penetration that's exciting for many bottoms.
- Stretch rings, usually made of silicone are way more comfortable and rarely fall off during sex
- Cock sleeves - the most comfortable, excellent for penetration. Meh for oral.
- Vibrating rings - a lot of fun. Appreciate having a vibrator around the base of your cock and balls. When they're good, they really can promote a hell of an orgasm.
- snappable straps - don't serve for me. They're convenient and if you're average size, they may be a good choice
- inexpensive plastic rings (the 3 for $10 kind) are generally terrible, difficult to put on and accept off unless you're hung like a bee.

All in all, they are amusement, for the mind as well as the body.
